Q: What is DHA good for and when should I take it?
Dr. Henry Cheg: Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) is one of the active ingredients of Omega 3 oils. It has been proven to be essential for central nervous system development, maintaining normal nerve functions, preventing dementia, improving cardiovascular functions, and promoting retinal health. Most fish oils and Omega 3 preparations have only a small portion of DHA and predominantly EPA. So choose a preparation that has DHA as the main ingredient like Metagenic’s High DHA® or DHA Lemon Gel®. It is indicated especially for autism, ADHD, memory, neuropathies, fibromyalgia, cardio-vascular problems, and macular degeneration.
